News & Views on Systemic Body Odor and Halitosis such as trimethylaminuria TMAU. If you have fecal odors or bowel odors it may be metabolic/systemic

Dr Ron Wevers Youtube channel ?

Dr Wevers youtube channel created January 2018. Is it real ?

In January 2018 a 'Ron Wevers' created a Youtube Channel (username Ron Wevers ).
Uploaded was the media video about Dr Wevers recent paper about enzyme SELENBP1 causing one type of METABOLIC halitosis.

This post is to make people aware of this new Youtube channel.
But of course, IT MAY NOT BE HIM.

So for now, I guess we have to wait to find out if it is for real.

Wevers & co theory (paper Dec 2017):
METABOLIC halitosis, this type ...

malodor volatiles :

enzyme at fault :

Dr Wevers has a long history of interest in the causes of halitosis.
He is based in Holland.
Link on paper from his University

My own view :

I think these 2 volatiles are suspects at the top of the list of the range of smells people who have 'fecal body odor' may have, while TMA may be say between #10-20 of the list of volatiles.

But I still think enzyme FMO3 is to blame.

But the addition of DMS and methanethiol to the list of volatile suspects is a breakthrough from the 'red herring' only diagnosis for the concept of metabolic BO .... TMAU.

Volatile suspect list :
Very high ...

much lower, but maybe an excellent test BIOMARKER and much indirect involvement (?) ...

"Can you ask the technician to give me the specific nucleotide change that was found and as well the exact consequence at the protein level?"

Would you be able to do that using this vcf file?

Update Aug 17 :
Genos is back with it's EXOME test

Note :
Exome/Genome testing may be better option than single gene testing.

See this post : link

Note : Genos Exome Testing.

Exome testing is almost the same price now as single gene testing. Also Genos is consumer friendly, which standard DNA labs are not.

So the blog offer to test solely for FMO3 is almost obsolete, and so no longer offered.

Does Genos fully sequence FMO3 gene ?

At the moment it is not clear, but hoped this will become clear over the next few months

Note : possible 'wild west' way of testing FMO3
Use an ancestry dna site and rummage through the raw data
