An analogy would be :
1. Genetic : bucket too small
2 Substrate overload : normal bucket overflowing
Personally I think TMAU is 'fish odor syndrome', and is an ideal marker of FMO3 amine oxidizing capacity, but in my opinion loads of other FMO3 substrates (perhaps 100's) are what cause the smells that people have, with TMA perhaps being a small player in the mix of odors. Not unless fish is a main odor.
What's happening is that people go to a Dr saying they have 'fecal body odor' (a wide mix of odors) and then are being tested for one metabolite (TMA), which being the perfect FMO3 function marker, they fail and are labelled with. Until they start testing for all the other malodorous volatile organic compounds, that is where we are stuck

I would like to know about any treatments new or old for this condition. I have beem suffering for years. My doctor thinks its all in my head. I have been taking chlorophyll and activated charcoal it helps some.the smell has dissipated but its still there is there anything else I can try?
